Call that an Island?
There are EU laws on what legally constitutes an island- anything with a bridge to it is not an island, nor is it an island if it is less than 1km from the mainland, it is not an island if it has less than 50 permanent residents or if it contains an EU capital city.

Sorry but it’s not specific to EU. UK is pretty good at doing stupid laws…

But coming from the UKIP, this lame attempt to make EU look pointless is not reaaly surprising

What is UKIP’s problem with the EU exactly. surely a peaceful democratic united Europe is preferable to the fractured one suggested here. You claim to have Churchill as your symbol, he fought to free and unite Europe not isolatre and divide it

This could be also about justifying Spain’s demands for sovereignty over Gibraltar. It might strengthen their claim if Gibraltar is not an Island. There used to be a clear waterway between Gibraltar and Spain. This water gap has been turned into reclaimed land. Bear in mind The recent attempt by Spain at invading Gibraltar, and also that the EU gave Spain rights over the waters surrounding Gibraltar. It must be remembered that the people of Giraltar have strongly declared their wish to remain part of Great Britain.

Hey Tom, I guess you were hoping that we wouldn;t look at your link. Were any of those absurd UK laws written in the last 300 years?
The EU is absurd TODAY.

So it would appear that seeing as London is an EU Capital City, then Great Britain is not an Island, and by a similar token nor is Ireland an Island.

The difference “tom” is that the laws emerging from the EU are being made today rather than in the 1500’s.
The EU is completely pointless, it is a purely Bureaucratic and Marxist organisation which serves no purpose other than to relieve the British tax payers of their money, to stunt the British economy and infringe upon British Sovereignty.
The Economic advantages are laughable, the political leverage that a European superstate is supposed to provide is nothing more than pie in the sky.
Supporters of the EU talk about free trade, there is no such thing as European free trade! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yP8hcF14of4

in the 70,s I had to leave the uk because the work I did {which was the building industry}at the time thatcher was the prime minister then and the industry was in tatters now it seems that its starting over again it seems also the queen’s speech was so short she could not have been on the same planet as the rest of us there was no mention of expenses etc, also the expense of the security that it entailed must have been very high on one hand the papers keep saying how bad the public purse is and yet all that hoo ha seems to be just to be a very poor joke on the public. also while I am having a good whine regards the queens speech and all that, I am very concerned regards charging pupils at uni for fees yet the scots and the welsh dont also they dont pay for medicine english have to pay it makes me wonder seeing that we have had 2 rather poor minister’s who seem to be scot,s makes you wonder, have go at letting the public know that you are standing up for them the people feel that you looking after their interest not the EU,S after all the EU was meant to be there to help people gain some control over their lives to gain enployment etc all it seems to be a poltical arm to control people I mean today, they elected a president how did that happen? they seem to be able to do what to what they want without a word to the public and why is it that we never seem to hear from your party after all the meadia gave that nick time

You would make a very good comedian, you may even wish to join the other comedians at the Con’s,Lib dems or Labour.
As you love the EU so much, please go and make your self a new home in the basement of the EU offices.
Perhaps they will give you a nice job, like cleaning the sewer pipes out when they get blocked, Which I hear is quite often.
